Ground Control opened in 2014. It is a unique and flexible 4000 sqm space set in a former mail sorting centre that belonged to the SNCF. A unique venue in Paris that features restaurants, culture, shops, and more, Ground Control is a surprising, vibrant, and convivial place. From the first graphic identity and various indoor design operations and design creations, the idea was to invent a ‘Made in GC’ gestural grammar and graphic design that could be transposed and adapted to different communication materials. We opted for an approach that was off-the-wall, bold, simple, and accessible. For this new project in 2020, we decided to divert the use of the emblematic fabric cladding and take advantage of its flexibility and creative scope. Indeed, the material can be used to cover, decorate, highlight, but also to inform, express ideas, guide, and structure the space. The graphic compositions are designed to be fun and easy to identify, relying on the initial colour code to enhance the overall legibility.
